Our History
Our Local & Humble Beginnings...
We were fortunate to be awarded a contract for the operation of a U.S. Contract Postal Unit (a sub-station of Brunswick's main Post Office), which still serves the local community from within Sweet Dreams.
Today, we are proud to be widely recognized for all we offer our customers, and hopeful that we will be able to serve our faithful customers for many years to come.
Sweet dreams was started in 1994 by Cathy Headley, a Maine native and graduate of Morse High School, Bath.
The business began at the Cook's Corner Mall with just 1500' feet of space. However, with Cathy's enthusiasm, and help from her husband, Marcus, and mother, Judy, success gradually came. In 1997 we were able to expand to the adjoining space and double the size of our retail showroom.
Local families welcomed the extra selection, the realistic pricing and down to earth customer service.
The years 1999 and 2000 saw David and Catherine Mitchell (Cathy's brother and his wife), join the success, and construction of the current store was started. Despite the inevitable hurdles of bureaucracy and 'rules', the store was completely envisioned, designed and even built by the family.
Marcus, David and Bud (David and Cathy's father) completed almost all the construction themselves.
